Humanitarian Enviromental Action Team

About

How can we meet the growing needs of modern life while moving towards a state of environmental competency? The Humanitarian Environmental Action Team is answering this question with a food bank garden plot. By fighting hunger with local produce we are both serving the community, and decreasing food miles and energy costs related to production.

*The groups/clubs at CGCC are not restricted to participants on any protected basis, including race, color, national origin, sex, disability or age. All individuals are encouraged to participate.

The HEAT club focuses on environmental issues and sustainable food practices as they relate to our surrounding desert ecosystem. We will be learning about topics like desert harvesting, herbal healing, and pollinator/environmentally friendly gardening practices. Throughout the semester we will be planning guest speakers for a brown bag series, field trips and hikes, movie/documentary nights, community clean-ups and more. We also help support CGCC’s Monarch Waystation, an expanding orchard, and a Victory/Heritage Garden.

If you are passionate about environmental issues, please join us bi-weekly in the Environmental Technology Center (ETC) starting Jan. 24th at 12:00pm
